More About Aeon's End

Randomized turn order, no shuffling, and multiple win and loss conditions make this a deck-building experience like no other!...

Unleash Your Power: A Deep Dive into Aeon’s End

“This is not the end of the world. That already happened. What remains is us, Gravehold, and the Nameless. For generations, we have sought refuge in this ancient and haunted place. Our mages have spent aeons honing their craft, and now they are ready... lethal and determined. The breaches, the very conduits through which the Nameless travel, have become our weapon.”

- Yaleesa Rhykk, Gravehold Survivor

The Dire Situation in Gravehold

The atmosphere is heavy with despair. Gravehold, the last bastion of humanity, relies on the formidable power of breach mages to fend off the relentless Nameless. Join the battle, and perhaps, just perhaps, Gravehold will witness another dawn.

What is Aeon’s End?

Aeon’s End is an innovative deck-building game designed for 1-4 players, where mages unite to combat a Nameless nemesis. Players start with a basic deck of 10 cards, and each turn involves playing gems to accumulate aether, purchasing new gems and relics, learning spells, and enhancing casting potential by opening breaches. Additionally, players can utilize relics to empower themselves or their allies, and prepare spells in their breaches for future casting.

Unique Mechanics of Aeon’s End

What sets Aeon’s End apart from other deck-building games is its approach to randomness. Unlike traditional games where you shuffle your deck upon depletion, Aeon’s End preserves the order of discarded cards. This strategic element requires players to plan their discards meticulously, setting themselves up for future turns.

Turn Order and Strategy

At the beginning of each round, the turn order deck is shuffled, determining the sequence of play. Will the nemesis strike twice in a row, jeopardizing the mages’ defense? Or will the mages enjoy a consecutive series of turns to prepare for the impending onslaught? The unpredictability of the turn order adds an exhilarating layer of strategy to the game.

The Role of Breach Mages

The breach mages of Aeon’s End are not merely fighting for their own survival; they are the last hope for humanity. If Gravehold’s life total reaches zero, the mages lose, and humanity fades into memory. Protecting the city is paramount!

Meet the Breach Mages

Aeon’s End features eight unique breach mages, each equipped with distinct starting cards and abilities:

  • Adelheim
  • Brama
  • Jian
  • Kadir
  • Lash
  • Mist
  • Phaedraxa
  • Xaxos

For instance, Kadir possesses a gem that heals any mage and an ability that allows any mage to prepare multiple spells. Xaxos can reveal the top card of the turn order deck and has an ability that aids allies in charging their abilities.

Building Your Deck

Players can enhance their decks by acquiring cards from the market, which consists of 27 unique gems, relics, and spells. The initial setup allows for a randomly generated market or a custom-built one, featuring 3 gems, 2 relics, and 4 spells to amplify your powers against the nemesis.

Confronting the Nameless Nemeses

Aeon’s End introduces four distinct Nameless nemeses, each with unique mechanics that challenge even the most skilled breach mages:

  • Carapace Queen
  • Crooked Mask
  • Prince of Gluttons
  • Rageborne

Each nemesis presents a different gameplay experience. For example, Rageborne unleashes a barrage of damage through its Strike Deck, while the Prince of Gluttons engages in a war of attrition, consuming player cards from the market. The nemesis deck is constructed before each game, combining basic and nemesis-specific cards, ensuring that no two encounters are ever the same.
