Over the past two years, I have encountered numerous experiences and met countless individuals. This journey led me to reflect on what gaming truly means to me. Having spent nearly a decade in the gaming industry, primarily focused on commercial games, I often felt that each title was merely a soulless shell, extracting every last penny from players.

My Humble Beginnings

I started as an ordinary vocational school graduate, working as a theater usher right after graduation. My daily routine involved standing to greet every audience member attending performances and every actor stepping onto the stage. At that time, I believed my life had reached a plateau; securing a job with my educational background felt like a significant achievement. However, the youthful naivety within me yearned for the vibrant world outside.

A Leap into the Unknown

In 2010, a serendipitous opportunity led me into the gaming industry, opening the door to a challenging and unknown realm. With a mindset focused on learning, I cautiously navigated this new path. What seemed like a straightforward journey turned out to be exceptionally arduous. The gaming industry ignited my curiosity, compelling me to explore every facet—programming, art, design, and game mechanics. My desire to understand everything stemmed from a childhood dream of gaming, a time when I felt lost and uncertain about my true aspirations.

Finding Clarity Through Gaming

As I matured, I grappled with the realization that I was unsure of what I genuinely wanted. The world around me felt fraught with danger and uncertainty. However, through a particular game, I managed to unlock my emotional barriers, allowing me to emerge from a state of despair. It was the community of passionate players that provided me with hope and motivation to continue my journey. I am profoundly grateful to all of you!

This year, I made a pivotal decision: to formally leave the corporate gaming sphere and return to my roots. Together with a close friend, I founded Firefly Studio. The name symbolizes glowing fireflies, representing the quest to find one’s light in a challenging world. We aspire to contribute our modest glow to the Chinese gaming landscape, hoping that one day, our light will be recognized and embraced by gamers worldwide.
